Thinking Out Loud

Welcome to the oddity called my brain as I ponder my place and role in the political arena.

I have, for some time now, self-identified as a sovereign in my own right, a Virginian and then a U.S. Citizen. From my studies, this order is consistent with the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence (DOI). The next logical question was -- so what? What impact, if any, should this have on how and where I spend my political time and treasure?

Focusing on the national instead of State level has, over a long period of time, played into the hands of those determined to further undermine the ideals found in the DOI by:

  • bolstering the strength and might of special interest groups determined to “spread the wealth” and misery equally among the Several States and citizenry
  • disallowing those who understand the ideals associated with the founding of this country from seeking political office w/o selling their souls to special interest groups in return for the almighty dollar
  • allowing those who currently hold office to dismiss calls, letters and demands as irrelevant because they are not, on any practical level, beholden to me or the State in which I live

It is Virginia that needs to take a stand and stop our headlong plunge into third world status (or worse). I have greater access to more local elected officials and they are more accountable to me because of that access.

Does this mean I will abandon involvement at the national level? No. It means that my time is being reapportioned to meet the ultimate goal of helping Virginia assume her rightful place in the Republic and get this out of control freight train called the U.S. government under control.

Rambling over … what are your thoughts?
